Mistakes That Make Your Back Pain Worse

Blog

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 39 percent of people struggle with back pain. If you are among the millions of adults with lower or upper back pain, you will do about anything to find relief. However, you might not realize that your everyday habits might actually be making your back pain even worse.

If you are living with back issues, here are a few mistakes you might be making that are exacerbating your aches and pains.

Not Giving Your Body and Back the Proper Nutrients

Just like the rest of your body, the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in your back require the proper nutrition to stay strong, healthy, and limber. Certain foods can lead to inflammation, which can make your back feel even worse. Introduce several different types of food to your diet, including foods that are high in protein.

For example, foods like salmon, sweet potatoes, carrots, tuna, and olive oil are great ways to give your back and body the nutrients it needs. Avoid sweets and foods that are filled with sugar and carbohydrates.

Choosing the Wrong Mattress

You spend several hours of your day relaxing and sleeping in bed. While you might find some temporary relief from your sore back while you are lying in bed, your mattress might actually be making the problem even worse, especially if the mattress is too soft. Ditch your old mattress and opt for a mattress that is medium-firm or firm.

A memory foam mattress is also better because it conforms to your body. Avoid sleeping on your side or on your stomach. Instead, train yourself to sleep on your back. Sleeping with a pillow under your knees can also help keep your back in proper alignment, which can cut down on aches and pains.

Getting Too Much Rest

Believe it or not, getting too much rest and relaxation might actually be making your back feel even worse. This is because inactivity can make your muscles feel stiff. Instead, if you have a job where you sit for several hours a day, make sure to get up periodically and move around. Even taking a walk around the office can help loosen your back muscles and help you find some much-needed relief.

Additionally, your doctor can help you find an exercise routine that can help keep your muscles loose and help you find some relief from chronic backaches.

From sleeping on the wrong mattress to eating the wrong foods, there are several everyday mistakes that can actually make your back pain worse.

Choosing A Better Salon

Do you remember the last time you had your hair professionally done? About a year ago, I realized that I needed to have a little help with my look, so I started checking out different spas and salons in the area. I was able to find an amazing place that specialized in hairstyles for men, and so I made an appointment and then headed in. It was really incredible to see how much of a difference they were able to make, and within no time, I felt like I looked a ton better. This blog is all about choosing a better salon to get a personal makeover.
