Should You Have Microneedling Treatments For Your Acne Scars?

Blog

Long after acne disappears, the scars remain. There are a lot of different treatments for acne scars, including a lot of over-the-counter creams and moisturizers. However, if you want faster relief from more serious scarring, you may want to look into microneedling — and more specifically, a type of microneedling called RF microneedling.

What Is RF Microneedling?

Microneedling is a procedure by which a practitioner inserts multiple very, very tiny needles into your skin. In RF microneedling, the RF stands for "radio frequency." Radio waves are sent down through the tiny needles as they are inserted into your skin.

RF microneedling can be used for a wide range of different conditions, including wrinkles, saggy skin, and scars of various origins. Because it is so versatile, it is very easy to find in most areas. Dermatologists offer it, and you can also find it at various medical spas.

How Does RF Microneedling Work?

When microneedles are inserted into your skin, they basically cause a new, very minor injury to the area. The radio frequency that is sent down the needles also stimulates the area, increasing circulation to that area. These effects together work to help encourage your body to repair acne scars. The "new" injury from the needles jump-starts your body's healing process, and the increased blood flow from the radio frequency ensures the skin has the nutrients it needs to do this healing.

What does the healing actually entail? Mostly, it comes down to the production of new collagen and elastin, which are two tissues often lacking in acne scars.

When Will You Notice the Benefits?

The benefits of microneedling are not immediately apparent. However, you should start to notice an improvement in your acne scars within a few days of the treatment. Your scars will continue to improve, slowly, for another two or three weeks after that. Some people are happy with the effects after just one RF microneedling treatment. However, it is not uncommon for patients to need three or four treatments before their scars are diminished to the desired degree. Your dermatologist will likely recommend waiting a month or two between treatments.

Microneedling is a relatively safe, minimally invasive way to ease the appearance of acne scars and encourage them to heal. It's not difficult to find a medical spa that offers the treatment, and you'll see the results soon after treatment. Finally, you can say goodbye to those scars!

Choosing A Better Salon

Do you remember the last time you had your hair professionally done? About a year ago, I realized that I needed to have a little help with my look, so I started checking out different spas and salons in the area. I was able to find an amazing place that specialized in hairstyles for men, and so I made an appointment and then headed in. It was really incredible to see how much of a difference they were able to make, and within no time, I felt like I looked a ton better. This blog is all about choosing a better salon to get a personal makeover.
